The Cathedral Church of St German, Peel, Isle of Man

The Cathedral Isle of Man — properly the Cathedral Church of St German — is the seat of the Diocese of Sodor and Man. The medieval cathedral ruins stand within the walls of Peel Castle on St Patrick's Isle, on the site of an even earlier monastic settlement, making it one of the oldest religious sites on the island.

A modern cathedral church, also dedicated to St German, stands in the centre of Peel itself and continues to serve the diocese today. Together the two sites give a real sense of the island's long religious history, from early Celtic Christianity through to the present day.

Both are an easy walk from The Fernleigh — the town-centre church is a short walk up from the harbour, and the ruins are reached via the same causeway path as Peel Castle.
